Adams Creek Solar Project

Location

The project is located approximately six miles northeast of Harrold in Wilbarger County, Texas.

Size & Acres

The project is expected to utilize approximately 1,800 acres and generate up to 250 megawatts (MW) of clean electricity during its expected

35-40 year operational life.

Connection

The project will serve the ERCOT power grid by interconnecting to the Oncor 345 kV transmission line within the project site.

About the Project

Adams Creek Solar Project, LLC is constructing an up to 250 megawatt (MW) solar energy facility in Wilbarger County, Texas. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025 and the project will achieve commercial operation in 2027. This project is expected to power up to 48,400 Texas homes annually. We are excited to make this clean, environmentally compatible, renewable energy generation installation a reality.

The project is expected to pay over $12 million in property taxes within its first 10 years. Adams Creek Solar Project will also make a $200,000 community engagement payment to Wilbarger County.

Construction

At the start of construction, the majority of activity will consist of site preparation and earthwork, substation construction, and post and racking installation. Construction activity will generally take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or from sunrise to sunset to ensure minimal disruption of daily activity. Occasionally, some construction activities may take place at night, but they will be limited to low-sound activities. No noise or light impacts are expected to affect nearby residences. Please note, the sequencing of construction activities is subject to change due to weather conditions or other adverse events.

Benefits of a Solar Energy Project

A solar project provides a healthy, productive economic development opportunity for local landowners to harvest a stable cash crop–the sun. Benefits include positive impacts on the local economy through tax revenues to local governments and support to other local services. Host communities typically experience economic boosts for local businesses and supply chains and opportunities for new jobs–primarily during the construction phase.

In addition to being safe and compatible with agricultural and rural residential uses, solar energy facilities exist in harmony with wildlife and the environment. They make good neighbors because they operate almost silently without producing odor or byproducts; or attracting additional traffic.

In the bigger picture, solar energy projects provide an abundant, earth-friendly, sustainable power resource to help stabilize electricity costs. These amazing systems lessen carbon emissions and contribute to diversifying the nation’s electricity grid.
